What will I learn on a Becky Adlington Training course?
Becky Adlington’s vision is to get more children swimming and, in doing so, she is absolutely passionate about having great swimming teachers to give every swimmer a great experience in the water. Every Becky Adlington Training course offers the highest quality training in becoming an assistant or a swimming teacher. By attending one of our courses, you will learn about the Becky way of teaching, her values and her top tips in becoming a great swimming teacher.
How much is the course?
A Level 1 Assistant (Swimming) is £350, and a Level 2 Swimming Teacher course is £650. This cost includes all your registration and assessment costs, all tutor fees and includes all course resources and a Becky Adlington Training t-shirt. We have now developed a Combined Course where you can complete your Level 1 and Level 2 at the same time. This costs £950.
Where can I find a course near me?
Becky Adlington Training is constantly developing its programme of courses for 2017, so please check the website to keep updated. Alternatively, use the enquiry form to tell us where you are based and that you are interested in doing a training course with us too.
I am worried about the level of writing and theory work on the courses, and not sure I can do it all.
Our tutors are carefully selected and trained to be able to create a great learning environment for all people on the course. We understand that people learn at different rates, and that some prefer listening, whereas others prefer doing. Our courses will ensure we find out how best you learn and our tutors will adapt the courses to suit your learning. Of course, there are written elements to the course which you will be expected to do (particularly on the Level 2 course). Click here to read about the expectations of the courses, and please contact us further if you are worried about this prior to booking onto a course.
Do you assist in getting a job as a swim teacher following the course?
Yes, we are in a unique position to help you find work once you have qualified as we run our own Learn to Swim programmes. Becky Adlington SwimStars (BASS) currently offers courses in 21 locations, and our sister company Total Swimming, run by Olympic medalist Steve Parry, is the largest private provider of swimming lessons in the country. Both are expanding, and are always looking for good quality teachers.
What will I actually learn on the course?
The Level 1 Assistant (Swimming) is really practical and designed to teach you all the skills you need to work alongside a fully qualified teacher. The course will include tips from Becky on how to be a great assistant for swimming lessons and help children swim ‘the Becky way’. The Level 2 Swimming teacher course provides you with the industry standard to work as a fully qualified swimming teacher. The course integrates Becky’s top tips in how to deliver fun and high quality lessons and ensure you are delivering great swimming lessons, teaching children ‘the Becky way’.
Are there any pre-requisites for the course?
Yes. You need to be at least 16 years old by the end of the course, able to swim, even if it’s only a little way, and come to the course excited about inspiring young children to swim ‘the Becky way’.
In addition, for the Level 2 course, you need to hold an ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) or an ASA Level 1 Award in Teaching Aquatics or equivalent qualification (certificated after 1994).
All those taking part in a Becky Adlington Training Course will need an up to date DBS before attending.
