Game of the Week
At Becky Adlington Training, we're proud to have the most dynamic, engaging, passionate tutors in the industry leading our courses. We know how rewarding teaching the next generation of swimmers can be - and the best way to do this is through fun!
This week, it was our Dan’s turn to share his Game of the Week. As a former GB swimmer, 200m English record holder and England representative in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, it’s no surprise that Dan has a passion for all things swimming – and that didn’t stop after his career in competitive swimming... After retiring in 2011, Dan joined our sister company, Becky Adlington’s SwimStars as a swimming teacher.
So, the big reveal. Dan’s Game of the Week is… *cue drum roll*
Let’s Go Fishing!
How to Play
Place an armband on the end of a noodle and let the swimmers take it in turns jumping in and grabbing the “fish” off the hook!
What skills are they learning?
The swimmers learn about Safe Entry and Exit whilst also building on their Aquatic Breathing (water confidence). The game can be adapted and made more difficult by moving the noodle or even adding a swim after the jump in!
“Possibly one of my best games with the little ones to build their confidence. It gives them something to focus on whilst jumping in and takes their mind off being nervous!” - Dan
