How swimming helps with mental health


As well as being an essential life skill and much-loved sport, a new report by Swim England (full article here), reveals how swimming also reduces the symptoms of anxiety or depression for 1.4 million adults in Britain.

The report also finds that 492,000 British adults with mental health conditions said that because of swimming, they have reduced their number of visits to a medical professional about their mental health.  

Even further, more than 490,000 people have either reduced or no longer take medication for their mental health conditions as a direct result of swimming.  

An amazing 43% of people asked in the report said that swimming made them feel happier, showing swimming is not just about helping with fitness, it’s also about improving your mental health too.
