Virtual Academy Expands! Lifeguard and Teacher Rescue now available!


Following the success of our Virtual Academy launch at the end of March we have expanded to now include RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches and National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications and First Aid too!

With approval from RLSS we are incredibly proud to be able to offer this start to the qualifications through our virtual academy, with practical to follow at a later date at one of our assessment centre venues. This mean individuals can start their learning now, and have a quicker and smoother transition into employment ready for when the pools re-open. 

We even have some employment opportunities available with our partners at Total Fitness, so start now, qualify soon and get into work!

What does this mean?

Enrol by 21st April for our blended approach to the RLSS NRASTC and NPLQ Qualifications. Start with an Induction lesson from 27th April (qualification dependant), followed by 4-6 weeks of live interactive lessons, an online classroom to submit tasks, share and access resources and receive feedback, coffee cohort catch ups, 121 support and then 1 day of practical elements & independent assessment at a later date available at one of our assessment centres.

What is involved?

You will have an induction lesson to orientate you on the use of the classroom and online systems, the qualification and programme and access to all the how to guides and information to get started.

After your induction you will have 4-6 weeks of learning (depending on whether you choose NRASTC or NPLQ), each week will have:

  • 2-3 live lessons per week: lessons range from 1-2 hours depending on the topic, 100% live attendance is required, and all lessons will be recorded for playback

  • Keep in Touch Days; Regular scheduled sessions between completion of virtual live lessons and the practical opportunities to stay focused and engaged.

  • Access to our virtual academy classroom to access resources, complete assignments & your manual activities, share resources and ideas with all the learners on the programme & your tutor

  • 1-2 days for practical sessions and an independent assessment to complete your qualification available at one of our assessment centres

When will it start?

Induction week will start w/c 27th April with 3 available induction lessons. The live lessons and virtual academy will run through to the end of May where we will then plan your practical days and assessment with you as soon as we are able.  A full timetable of all lesson times and dates are available on request.

What resources will I need?

The ideal resources you will need for this programme are:

Laptop(access to Microsoft word)

Phone/device for interactive quizzes

Internet/Wi-Fi connection

Speakers

Microphone is ideal but not essential (most laptops/phones are built in)

Please note that it is still possible to access the learning through chrome books/iPad/phones, however functionality is not as effective, and we may need to send you a hard copy portfolio via royal mail.

What is the cost?

NRASTC (Light) £90

NRASTC (Full) including Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) £150

NPLQ £250

Where are the assessment centres?

We have a variety of assessment centres; candidates will be signposted to the most appropriate venue for their location. Assessment centres are available in Bournemouth, Manchester, Liverpool, Cannock – Staffordshire, Yorkshire/Humber and Teesside.

If your workplace has multiple learners for assessment this can take place at your venue upon prior agreement with BAT. Please contact us to discuss.
